The MGH Library

Please note that due to the lockdown the MGH library is currently closed for guests.

The Monumenta Germaniae Historica offer the world’s largest specialised mediaeval history library for the purposes of German and international mediaeval scholarship and education. The MGH library is a reference library providing users free access to a multilingual media collection. The ca. 150 000 books and 205 current periodicals may be consulted at the 34 workplaces in the reading room. Usage of the library is free of charge and generally restricted to postgraduate researchers and history students writing their final papers.

Other users are asked to seek permission from the library director. All first-time visitors are requested to register themselves and to inform themselves about the MGH library policy and the special hygene regulations applying during the pandemic situation.
