Call for Applications for two MGH Fellowships

The Monumenta Germaniae Historica (MGH) are a non-university research institution dedicated to the study of medieval history with a special focus on the edition of medieval Latin sources. In 2022, the charitable MGH friends association „Pro arte edendi – Freunde der MGH e.V.“ finances two MGH fellowships for doctoral and post-doctoral researchers working in the field of source edition and source studies. Good German language skills are a prerequisite.

The MGH fellows will be financially supported with the regular travel costs from their place of residence to Munich and return and 2000 € to cover their living expenses in Munich. The MGH will help them find quarters in Munich. For the period of one month, the fellows receive assistance in their research at the Munich institute from members of the MGH staff and a reserved working place in the reading room of the MGH library. At the institute, they will be introduced to the MGH digital edition methods. In cooperation with professors at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, MGH fellows have the opportunity of presenting and discussing their projects in the context of advanced seminars, colloquia, or during the annual summer school, depending on the time of their sojourn. As MGH fellows, they become part of an international network of scholars dedicated to the research of medieval sources.
