The Monumenta Germaniae Historica (MGH) are proud to offer two short-term scholarships for post-doctoral researchers for the year 2023 funded by the Arno-Borst Foundation. The scholarships entail a research sojourn in Munich for the period of three months with a monthly stipend of 2000€. Applications will be received from Germany and abroad. To be eligible, applicants must have already completed their Ph.D. in Medieval History or the „Historische Wissenschaften“(palaeography, diplomatics, epigraphics and related studies), ideally with a thesis related to editions. Scholarship holders will be entitled to a reserved workplace in the reading room of the MGH library, one of the best specialised libraries for medieval history in the German-speaking world. Beyond this, Munich offers a wealth of further research resources in the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, the Bavarian state archive (Hauptstaatsarchiv), and the library of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, all of which are close at hand.
