The MGH section Diplomata at the Austrian Institut für Österreichische Geschichtsforschung in Vienna is preparing the edition of the charters of Emperor Henry VI (1165-1197) for publication in tomes 11, 1-2 of the Diplomata series "Die Urkunden der deutschen Könige und Kaiser". When complete, the volumes will contain editions of ca. 800 charters and deperdita issued during Henry VI’s rule as Roman-German King and Emperor.
To shorten the wait for the final printed publication, since 2011 the MGH successively publish digital pre-print editions of the sections as they are completed. To date, our pre-print editions comprise Henry VI’s missives to the Popes and his charters for recipients in the present-day states of Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Holland, Luxemburg, and in the Italian regions of Liguria, Lombardy, Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Sicily, Calabria, Basilicata, Apulia, Campania, Molise and Abruzzo. Now also available: the charters for recipients in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna.
We continue to augment our online pre-print charter editions as they are completed and will keep you up to date on the latest instalments.
